Jambi Hosts International Economic Conference : JEBAC 2023 Focuses on Economic Resilience and Sustainability

Jambi Economics, Business, and Accounting Conference (JEBAC) 2023 successfully brought together the best minds in economics and business at the Swiss-Bel Hotel, Jambi, on November 2-3, 2023. The conference, initiated by the Faculty of Economics and Business of Jambi University, took the critical theme “Economic Resilience and Sustainability: Twin Goals in an Age of Global Uncertainties”.

Opened by the Dean of FEB Prof. Dr. H. Junaidi, SE, M.Si, representing the Jambi University Rector who was unable to attend, JEBAC 2023 kicked off a critical discussion on how the economy can remain resilient amidst unpredictable global challenges. Prof. Junaidi emphasized the importance of adaptation and innovation in global economic changes.

The international conference featured an impressive line-up of keynote speakers. Asst. Prof. Mazhar Islam, Ph.D. from Loyola University, New Orleans, USA, presented “Nature’s Dividends: Economic Resilience through Conservation”, discussing how nature conservation can be key to economic resilience.

From Thailand, Asst. Prof. Chidchanok Anantamongkulkul, Ph.D. from Phuket Rajabhat University, Thailand, shared her experience on the topic of “Sustainable development strategy: ways to go for tourism operators post-crisis,” providing insights on sustainable development strategies for tourism operators post-crisis.

Meanwhile, Prof. Diana Sari, SE, M.Mgt, Ph.D. from Padjadjaran University, Indonesia, moved the audience with her presentation “The Future of Sustainable Marketing: Indonesian Customer Response,” exploring Indonesian consumers’ response to sustainable marketing.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jati Kasuma from Universiti Teknologi Mara Sarawak, Malaysia, also discussed “Building Sustainable and Resilient Community-Based Tourism through Cooperatives”, exploring how cooperatives can strengthen community-based tourism.

The conference was attended by approximately 100 participants from leading universities both at home and abroad, reflecting the diversity and global engagement in achieving a more resilient and sustainable economy.

JEBAC 2023 is a venue for knowledge exchange and facilitates the building of professional networks and broader international collaboration.
